The Story of Tax from Monkey Land
Written by ©Tsaiyu Chang 張采聿 2021
英文故事全文
Once upon a time, Monkey Land was a beautiful place. All of the
monkeys were banana farmers. They used bananas instead of money in
Monkey Land.
Monkey Land had a really nice hospital, a big library, and a fun
park. Police monkeys were always on patrol protecting the town from
hungry wolves.
Let’s meet one little monkey named Tax. Tax wore a nice red bow
tie around his neck. He collected bananas from all the monkeys to pay
for the public services in Monkey Land.
Knock! Knock!
“Hi. This is Tax. I am here to collect some bananas.”
“Oh no! It’s Tax time again! Three bananas?”
The other monkeys didn’t like Tax. They did not want to give any
bananas to Tax, so they drove him away from Monkey Land one day.
“Hooray, Tax is gone!”
“We don’t need to give our bananas to Tax anymore!”
“No more Tax!”
But after a few weeks, when the baby monkeys went to the park,
the swings were broken.
“Mom! Dad! The swings at the park are broken.”
“We can’t play on the swings!”
Their parents went to the store to buy a new swing. It cost one hundred bananas.
“But who should pay for the new swing?”
“Tax should pay!”
One night, some hungry wolves came to Monkey Land.
“Awwoooo!”
“Oh dear. The wolves are here…”
“Where are the police monkeys?”
Since the police monkeys were not paid by Tax to work, nobody
was there to help chase away the big bad wolves. The wolves even
destroyed the banana farms. Many monkeys were hurt.
At the Monkey Land hospital, the doctors couldn’t help them
because they didn’t have enough money to buy medical supplies!
